Hair care advice
Colour and your hair
The decision to change the colour of your hair is a major consideration, it will have a big impact on the way you look. It is important to remember that just because you consider a colour does not mean it will look good on you. Our professional colour technicians will help to guide you in your choice, they can not only advise you on which tints will look best with your particular features and skin tone, but know exactly how each colour will affect your natural hair shade. This can be very tricky to deal with on your own.
Most commercial hair dyes have pictures of what colour they will produce on various base shades of hair, however, regardless of what the product colour samples show, your own hair may react very differently. Some dye products will advise you to 'strip' the natural colour of your hair before applying them, this is especially true if you are going from very dark to very light tones. Our professional colour technicians will know exactly when to pre-treat your hair for a particular colour change. It is always a good idea to condition your hair with a colour-safe conditioner to keep it healthy and minimise any drying effects. At Julia Lampard, our colour technicians will explain the best way to care for your colour-treated hair to keep it healthy and vibrant.
Please note, it is the policy of our salon to give an Inoa skin test at least 48 hours prior to our clients having colour applied for the first time.
Managing your new hairstyle
Having a new hairstyle can be a momentous occasion for many reasons. Depending on the style you choose and how different it is from your current style, it may significantly change your appearance. Our Staff have the expertise to guide you in choosing styles that will compliment your features. With any choice of new hairstyle there will be a period of adjustment. Your looks will change and that might, at first, make you uncertain about your choice. Give it a little time and you will soon know if you chose wisely, based on the shape of your face. Once you are used to your new style, you will look and feel fantastic.
Maintaining your hairstyle
Every hairstyle takes maintenance but the choices you make should also take into consideration your lifestyle. If you have a lot of time to prepare your hair every morning, or before you go out, then styles that require a lot of work will be fine. However, if you are a ‘wash and wear’ type of individual, stay away from cuts that require a great deal of daily work to keep them looking good.
Depending on the type of cut you will need to have it re-styled every four to eight weeks to keep it looking fresh. Longer cuts will tend to stay looking good for the longest period of time in between stylings. Our professional hair stylists will be able to advise you on how often your new style needs to be trimmed in order to keep it looking its best.
